SORA KHEIRY
سورا خیری
Sora (Maryam) Kheiry is an Iranian-born visual artist, arts educator, and researcher based in the Greater Toronto Area. Working across mixed media, collage, drawing, and installation, her practice explores memory, displacement, identity, and belonging through processes of layering, fragmentation, and reconstruction.
Drawing on her background in art research, social semiotics, and visual culture, Kheiry investigates the ways meaning is produced, transformed, and negotiated through images. Her research interests include the semiotics of visual representation, the concept of the gaze, and the cultural and social dimensions of image-making.
Through material and research-based approaches, her work examines how personal and collective narratives are embedded within visual forms, revealing the layered relationships between image, memory, culture, and lived experience.
